What must I believe?
The Gospel is all about Christ
Do you believe?
- Jesus died for your sins.
- There is a God who has created a possibility for sin.
- You are sinful and rebellious by nature.
- Because God is good, He must judge and condemn the evil of sin. As a sinner, you are under His holy judgment and wrath.
- While God is just, He is also rich in mercy. He can forgive your sins if someone else satisfies His justice for you, by paying the penalty for your sins in your place.
- To solve the problem, God sent His only Son Jesus to pay your penalty by dying in your place. Because He was truly man, He could represent you, and because He was truly God, He could live a perfectly righteous life. As God, Jesus could survive the awful punishment He suffered for those who would believe in Him.
- Jesus rose from the dead on the third day, in accordance with Scripture, to prove God accepted Jesus sacrifice.
- You cannot do anything to earn or deserve God’s mercy. You must receive it by faith, as a free gift. Simply speaking, you must believe God’s promise to save you if you will repent of your sins and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
Come to Jesus and you will have peace with God.
If you believe these truths, what’s stopping you from surrendering your life to Him? Go to the Lord in prayer, and pour out your heart to Him. Here’s a sample prayer that may guide you as you commit your life to Jesus. However, remember it’s not the words you say that saves you, it’s the heart of genuine faith in Him.
Sample Prayer of Salvation Dear God, this is my prayer of salvation. I know that I’m a sinner, and there’s nothing I can do to save myself. But because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, I can be saved. I confess my complete helplessness to forgive my own sin. At this moment, I trust Christ alone as the One who bore my sin when He died on the cross. He did all that will ever be necessary for me to stand in Your holy presence. Jesus is Lord and the gift of God. Because of Your grace, I’m born again. I’m grateful that You’ve promised to receive me despite my many sins and failures. Father, I take You at Your word. I thank You that I can face death now that You’re my Savior. Thank You for the assurance that You’ll walk with me through the deep valley. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
What’s next?
Remember, God cannot lie. His promises will never fail. The Lord Jesus Christ has promised to always be with you now that you belong to Him. The Holy Spirit comes to indwell you and lead you into the paths of righteousness. Though you are still able to sin, sin will no longer dominate your life since you will be led by the Spirit. When you sin, repent of it and ask for forgiveness. Be thankful for God’s grace! He will forgive you, and you should trust that He has fully forgiven you. Then, endeavor to sin no more.
